1

Step One

Straighten out and cut approx 50cm's of 0.8 or 1.0mm wire and approx 6cm's from one end make a sharp bend bringing the wires together, squeeze the bend gently together with flat nose pliers. (If you are trying wire writing for the first time use 0.8mm wire as it will be easier to shape and manipulate)

2

Step Two

Griping the bend made with round nose pliers bring the long length of wire around the prong of the pliers forming a loop

3

Step Three

Working with the long length of wire bring it up to form the beginning of the R then approx 2cm's up grip the wire with flat nose pliers and make another sharp bend so that the longer wire is travelling down the back of the 2cm's and squeeze the bend gently together with flat nose pliers

4

Step Four

Grip the bend just made with round nose pliers and bring the long length of wire around into a loose loop to form the top of the R, bring it over the top of the 2cm wire and then loop underneath. Gently pinch together with flat nose pliers

5

Step Five

Grip the wires where they meet at the centre of the R and bring the wire down to complete the curve of the R then bend up to start the shape of the e

6

Step Six

Using the R as a size guild for the other letters making them approx half the size of the capital, using flat nose pliers grip the wire and use the shape of the pliers to form the e bringing the wire over the top

7

Step Seven

Keep the pliers in position and use the bottom prong to complete the curve of the e and bring the wire back up

8

Step Eight

Decide where the top of the b should be and gripping with the round nose pliers bring the wire around the prong and back down. Squeeze the loop slightly together

9

Step Nine

Place the round nose pliers at the bottom to curve the b into a loop and make a sharp bend in the wire to position it for the next letter squeeze the bend togther with flat nose pliers

10

Step Ten

Form another e as in step 6 using the previous letters as a size guild. From the bottom of the e bring the wire up approx 3 to 4mm's higher than the e then make a sharp bend bringing the wire back down. Squeese the bends together with flat nose pliers as you work

11

Step Eleven

Using round nose pliers or bail pliers, place in position to form the curve of the c (do not curve the tops until your work is complete) Repeat the next c in the same way.

12

Step Twelve

For the a repeat as if forming as c but make the bend approx 2 mm's higher to allow for the curve at the top of the a

13

Step Thirteen

Using bail pliers curve the a the same way as for the c's bring the wire up making a bend the same height as the c's, bring the wire straight down and bend sharply up again but approx 5mm's lower than your letters allowing for the curl of the a. Squeeze the bends together with flat nose pliers as you work

14

Step Fourteen

from the top of the a, bend the wire to a right angle and trim the wire to approx 1cm and form a loop with round nose pliers. These loops will be anchor points to attach chain or jump rings etc.

15

Step Fifteen

At the begining of the word trim the wire to approx 1cm and form another loop

16

Step 16

With round nose or bail pliers grip the top of each c and the a and curve to complete the letters. You can add any beads to embellish your design. Use jump rings to attach to a chain to create a necklace.
