Create Mardi Gras Headpiece

Learn how to make a Mardi Gras Headdress with JewelleryMaker.

Follow these simple step-by-step instructions to create a vibrant headpiece, inspired by Mardi Gras with JewelleryMaker.com! Mardi Gras is the oldest annual Carnival celebration in the United States and it refers to a Carnival celebration that happens at the beginning or after the Christian feasts of the Epiphany, the day before Ash Wednesday. 1

Step One

Using a awl tool poke a hole at the point of the purple feather base and push a 7mm jump ring through and add a Amethyst embellishment.

2

Step Two

Using a glue gun add the feather base to a gold coloured headband.

3

Step Three

Arrange a display of orange and pheasant feathers on the back of the feather base and secure with glue.

4

Step Four

Trim the wire from the back of three flowers and glue them to the front of the feather base as shown and add a tassel behind the centre flower.

5

Step Five

Using round nose pliers make up four rosary link chains of different lengths using the 0.4mm wire and a mixture of the citrine, peridot and amethyst rondelles.

6

Step Six

With 0.4mm gold plated wire add the rosary chains to each side of headband by wrapping around the headband and trim off the excess wire at the front.

7

Step Seven

Thread a piece of 0.4mm wire through one end of the Swarovski chain and secure to the headband with a couple of wraps and trim the wire at the front.

8

Step Eight

Add a tassel to the end of the Swarovski chain using the 0.4mm wire

9

Step Nine

Using the wire on the back of the flowers add two more to each side of the headband coving the wire wraps that you have used to attach the rosary and Swarovski chains. Secure the flowers in place with glue.

10

Step Ten

Add more lengths of peridot rosary link chains to the front of the headpiece so that it drapes from the feather base to the headband as shown in the picture to finish off.
