Known as the birthstone for July, Ruby is also the anniversary gemstone for both the 15th and 40th year of marriage. Ruby has also been thought to remove sadness, prevent nightmares and protect against many illnesses.

The desire to have this gemstone quickly stretched much further around the world. Records suggest Ruby was traded as early as 200 B.C. Stories are told of Chinese noblemen who would bury these gemstones under their home to bring prosperity and good fortunes to those who live within. It would later become synonymous with Royalty and the reign of Queen Victoria. Following the Anglo-Burmese war of 1824, Britain took control of Burma, including a large collection of heirloom-quality rubies. By the 1900’s, Royals and the Elitist’s would add a wealth of rubies to their ever growing vast collections. Notably rubies can be seen in the Crown worn by King George VI during his coronation.
