Step One

Cut 8 x 1meter lengths of cord. wind each cord onto a bobbin, leaving about 40 cm tail. Put a small piece of sticky tape over the side of the bobbin to stop it unravelling. Thread 70 garnets on to each cord.

2

Step Two

Gather up all 8 cords and tie a knot at the end.

3

Step Three

Drop the knot through the center of the kumihimo disc. add the weight to the end knot. Place a cord to to slots either side of the 'N' , 'E', 'S' and 'W'.

4

Step Four

Starting with the 'N' at the top. Take the right hand cord and bring it down to ne next available right hand slot at the 'S' point.

5

Step Five

Take the left hand bottom strand at the 'S' point and bring it up to the next available left hand slot at the 'N' point.

6

Step Six

Move the disc a ¼ turn so the 'E' is at the top repeat the same moves, top right cord to bottom right slot, bottom left cord to top left slot, ¼ turn. Repeat this until you have formed 2cm of weave.

7

Step Seven

Take the next top right cord , bring up a garnet and push it down to the center weave and tuck it slightly under the top center thread then move the cord down to the bottom right slot. Bring a garnet up to the center every time you move a cord.

8

Step Eight

Continue with the garnets until you have created a 40cm beaded section. then create another 2cms of plain weave.

9

Step Nine

Take the cords off the disc and tie a knot at the end of the plain weave. Cut the cords at the end of the knot. Take a 20cm piece of wildfire thread. Wrap around the plain weave, 1cm from the beads, then tie a double knot.

10

Step Ten

Cut the weave next to the wildfire wrap. Do the same at the other end of the necklace.
