Step One

Feed all five of your strands through the small loop of the toggle clasp so that it sits in the centre and gives you 10 strands to work with in a mirror image. Push the toggle class into one of the grooves at the edge of the macramé board to hold it still while you are working.

Step Two

Pick up the two central strands (these will be the same colour -yellow) and make a knot, to do this take the right hand strand and place it over the top of the left strand then up through the loop. Do this again so you have two knots.

Step Three

Pick up the next colour cord on your left (light blue) and place it over the top of one of the central (yellow) cord so that the tail end points to the right. Then tuck the end under the central Strand (yellow) and pull up to create a knot. Repeat this step so you have two knots then place your second colour (light blue) into the centre of your design.

Step Four

Pick up the second strand (light blue) on the right-hand side and make a backward knot over the central (yellow) Strand. E.g. place it over the top with the tail pointing to the left. Then tuck the tail under the yellow strand and pull up to create the knot. Repeat this until you have two knots.

Step Five

Repeat step two with your new coloured central strands (light blue).

Step Six

Pick up the third colour (Peach) on the left-hand side of your pattern and make two knots over the yellow strand, then two knots over the light blue strand and place it as the new central colour.

Step Seven

Repeat step six on the other side of your design and make two backward knots over the yellow strand, and two backward knots over the light blue strand and place it in the centre of your design.

Step Eight

knot the two central (Peach) strands together twice.

Step Nine

Pick up the fourth colour (white) on the left-hand side of your design and make two knots over the yellow, two knots over the light blue and two over the peach. Do the same on the right hand side remembering to make them backwards knots (Tail pointing to the left) then knot both white strands together in the centre twice.

Step Ten

Pick up the final colour on the left hand side (dark blue), make two knots over the yellow Strand, two knots over the light blue Strand, two knots over the peach and two over the white. Do the same on the other side using backward knots and then knot the two central dark blue strands to complete the first leaf shape.

Step Eleven

(you may have realised that the dark blue Strand has worked from the outside edge to the centre, and the yellow has worked from the centre to the outside edge. These colours will alternate throughout the pattern as you complete each leaf section.) Repeat the whole process again starting in the centre make two knots over the dark blue with the white strand, and two backward knots over the dark blue using the white strand from the opposite side, then knot both white strands together twice in the centre.

Step Twelve

Using the peach strand make two knots over the dark blue, two over the white, and repeat on the other side then knot the two peach strands into the centre. Repeat this technique with the light blue and finally the yellow to complete the second leaf.

Step Thirteen

Repeat steps 1 to 12 until the desired length of bracelet is achieved, make sure you finish with a completed leaf shape (with yellow and dark blue in the centre and outside edge) then divide all of the strands into three groups and plait them together. Use one of the strands to wrap around all of the others and tie a double knot, then add a dab of glue to the knot, wait for it to dry and trim off the excess cord (you can leave the tassle if desired).

Step Fourteen

Take an open jump ring and push it through the knotted end, attach the T-Bar part of the toggle clasp and close the jumpring to secure it in place.
